Director's Message

The 2021-22 school year is here! The official first day of the academic year will continue to be different for everyone. We must all continue to work together in following all state and local health and safety guidelines, so that our children can enjoy a safe and productive school year, and be able to share many exciting stories with family members when they go home each day.

Periodically, teachers will be sending home information in the form of class newsletters or notes regarding what the children have learned, what they will be learning, the theme of the week, homework assignments, and classroom activities and events.  Each teacher has books in their library that may be borrowed for shared parent-child reading, and our family workers have parent resources and information to support the needs of the parents of our school community.  Please feel free to call to make a virtual or an in-person appointment with a family worker who will meet with you (at one of our outside designated areas) to learn more about the parent resources available.  You also may correspond with teachers via text or email about books to enjoy at home, or any other concern or inquiry you may have.  Teachers will be communicating with and providing all parents of students in their class with their contact information.

For further information, please browse through our online parent resource section and read our updated Parent Handbook COVID-Edition which outlines all health and safety protocols implemented at the Union City Day Care Program for the safety of all staff and students.

Watch out for important holidays in our school calendar!  Please mark these on your calendars.  Teachers will provide parents with notification of any classroom celebrations by newsletter, notes sent home, or electronically.  Parents may be able to virtually participate in class celebrations this year via the Zoom application as programmed by your child's teacher.  Limited celebrations will be organized outdoors for parent participation, where feasible.

I am pleased to be able to open our doors for another school year while still under this pandemic "new normal".  As always, the staff at the Union City Day Care, Union City Early Childhood Learning Center, and Le Petit Jardin (PLP Program) look forward to working together, with you, to provide a positive social and educational experience for your child. If I can be of any support to you, please do not hesitate to contact me at 201-348-2754 during school hours.

Looking forward to another safe and wonderful school year!

Katia Stack, MEd
