From the Director

Director’s Message

Dear Parents,

On behalf of the Union City Day Care Program staff, I am pleased to be able to welcome another school year at the Union City Day Care, Union City Early Childhood Learning Center, and Le Petit Jardin (PLP Program)!  We have been providing excellent care and learning for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age for more than 40 years. We are culturally diverse, and our centers provide a nurturing educational environment with developmentally appropriate activities for each child. Our passionate, caring and dedicated staff help guide your child to reach his or her potential – academically, socially, and emotionally; uncovering each child’s uniqueness and talents and helping them recognize their own capacity to actively make a difference in the world.

Throughout the school year, teachers send home information in the form of class newsletters or notes about what the children have learned, what they will be learning, the theme of the week, homework assignments, and classroom activities and events. Each teacher has books in their library that may be borrowed for shared parent-child reading. You may reach out to teachers about any interests, concern, or inquiry you may have. They will be communicating with and providing all parents of students in their class with their contact information.

The Union City Day Care Program also promotes family well-being.  Our family workers are here to serve as liaisons and form home-school connections with the parents of our school community.  They can assist with accessing community resources to support family needs. Please feel free to call or make an appointment with a family worker to learn more about the parent resources and information available.

Also, watch out for important holidays in our school calendar! Please mark these on your calendars. Teachers will provide parents with notification of any classroom celebrations by newsletter, notes sent home, or electronically. Limited celebrations will be organized outdoors for parent participation, where feasible.

Finally, although we have seen lots of progress, COVID-19 variants are still surfacing and infecting people.  At the Union City Day Care Program centers, we continue to do the following:

1.      Ensure that the disinfecting and sanitizing of our facilities continues to be a priority.

2.      As participants of the New Jersey Department of Health At-Home COVID-19 Testing Distribution Program, we provide free COVID-19 test kits to any child with symptoms or if exposed to the virus.  For more information about isolation after exposure to COVID-19 go to:     https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/isolation.html

We must all continue to work together in following all state and local health and safety guidelines, so that our children can continue to enjoy a safe and productive school year.

We look forward to working together, with you, to provide a positive social and educational experience for your child. If we can be of any support to you, please do not hesitate to contact us at 201-348-2754 during school hours.

Sincerely,

Katia Stack, M.Ed.
